Newsweek has an interesting write up on Cognitive Dissonance – the way people change what they think and believe in order to achieve peace of mind.
How much do we try to justify our daily tasks? Using the example of education that I use very often, is the formal education system really useful? Or is it merely something we justify because of the investment (of time, money, etc) that we put into it?
