Steve Olsen gives us 6 tips for building exceptional character.
Become other person centric
Contribute first
Develop mental toughness
Encourage everyone around you to be the best they can be
Praise effort, progress, and success
Do the right thing even when it is unpopular
Doing that will help build your character as well; it will improve your own life. As Steve Pavlina tells us in his post “Quality and Contribution“:
If you want to increase the quality of your life, focus on increasing your contribution. And if you want to improve your contribution, take steps to upgrade the quality of your surroundings.
My advice to you today: Focus on those around. Ask yourself: what can I do to improve my surroundings? And do it.
Make an effort to change the world around you, and you’ll find that you’ll change as well.
Have you joined the Grasshoppers Network on Ning? It’s all about finding ways to be helpful to others, and pooling our resources to contribute to each other and to the world at large.
Definitely a great place to start building the kind of character you’re talking about – come join us! =)
