Golf - Lessons for Life

Date February 16, 2008

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting! And if there's anything else I can do for you, feel free to drop me a line.

Jon Percepto from Eclectic Commons shares with us the Philosophy of Golf in 95 Words.

I’m not particularly a fan of golf, but I have to admit, Jon’s post got me thinking.

Most of the challenges are against the environment. It’s not a direct competition to try to stop and defeat another,  but more a competition to see who deals with the situation better. And as Jon said, it’s about reading the terrain, adapting to deal with the situation.

Resembles life quite a lot, doesn’t it?

Golf is a game of you against yourself.  It is a great personal battle: a very mental game.  This is my favorite thing about golf.  It is the ultimate game of discipline.

I don’t play golf much, but yeah. Agreed that one of the best things about it is the mental aspect.

Interesting analogy. It is quite true and undeniable though. Its funny  how you can compare so many things to golf. I have heard lots of comparisons.

Yeah. But to be honest, I think that comparisons can be made between practically any two things, if you look deep enough for them.
