Well, the alternative doesn’t have to be captchas, that’s just what Adam Ostrow suggested. Do you have any other possible alternatives? Personally, I don’t like the idea of captchas in general.

I agree. It’s not a problem. If some spammer wants to follow you ignore or block. Not hard.

If the alternative is captchas, it looks like even less of a problem to me.

It doesn't matter at all. People basically fear that the spammer achieving additional links on the back of their little slice of twitterdom somehow takes away from their legitimacy. It's similar to a person who gets salty about a co-worker's promotion when that co-worker did not work as hard and perhaps doesn't deserve the new title, pay, fame, fortune, etc. twitter spam's last blog post..It's not twitterspam
