Buy A Friend A Book Week

Thanks for coming back. =). Glad to see you. If there's anything I can do for you, I'd love to hear from you. Drop me an email, or leave a comment, introduce yourself. I'd love to connect with you. Or if you have your own blog, why not let me promote your work?

Apparently October 1st to 7th is “Buy A Friend A Book Week“.

This is the first I’ve heard of it, and I think it’s a really good idea. I suggest you take part in it. I’m probably going to.

Reading encourages a person to learn for him/herself. When you read, you’re gaining knowledge by yourself, you’re experiencing something for yourself, not depending on someone else to provide you with that knowledge or that experience. And that’s lacking in society today, I believe. Too many people seem to be too busy to learn by themselves.

What books have you read lately and what have you gained from them?

I just finised The Imagineering Way. It's a collection of essays written by the Disney Imagineers, and it's definitely one of the most inspiring things I've ever read.

Their thoughts on the creative process – everything from coming up with an idea to turning it into reality – really motivated me and gave me some new ways to attack what I was doing. I'd recommend it to anyone who's ever wanted to create something new – even if you don't consider what you're doing to be “creative” work.

PS. If you're gonna buy it from Amazon, do it through the link on my Squidoo page – then some of the money will go towards funding my creative work! =)

Sarah: Sounds cool, I'll check it out, and will try to buy it from your page if I can – I don't have a credit card yet, so have to persuade my parents to let me get it through Amazon. =).

Debra: No problem. I really think it's a cool idea. Keep it up.
